Slow Living in the Heart of Transylvania

Gasthaus Hundorf — atmosferă de vară

Majestically surrounded by the Carpathians and ancient forests, Gasthaus Hundorf is nestled in an old Transylvanian village with a history stretching back to Empress Maria Theresa.

Mrs. Mirela welcomes you with the warmth of a real home. Every meal is prepared with local ingredients from village producers, following the principles of Slow Food — a sustainable approach to gastronomy that preserves local traditions.

Here you won't feel the need to go anywhere else. The place embraces you and lets you breathe.

We were very impressed with the accommodation and Mrs. Mirela. Breakfast is like home cooking.

The place's history

A village with medieval roots

Viișoara, a village in Mureș County, carries the mark of centuries. Settled in the Middle Ages by Transylvanian Saxons, the place has preserved a unique architecture and culture. Empress Maria Theresa left visible traces throughout the region — from fortified churches to the rural organisation that persists to this day. Gasthaus Hundorf literally means «the guest house of Hundorf» — the German name of the village, a living bridge between past and present.
